Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government has executed a decisive campaign against crime, resulting in the neutralisation of 289 notorious criminals over a period of nine years. A total of 17,043 police encounters have characterized this relentless drive, highlighting an unwavering zero-tolerance policy towards crime.
The Meerut Zone led the crackdown with 4,813 operations, resulting in 97 high-profile criminal neutralisations and the arrest of 8,921 offenders. Varanasi followed suit with significant numbers, while Agra Zone recorded 24 neutralisations in 2,494 encounters. Despite the high toll, the operations have earned praise for improving law and order.
Statewide, other zones including Varanasi, Kanpur, and Lucknow similarly contributed to the crackdown, making Uttar Pradesh a benchmark state for crime control in India. This comprehensive approach not only instilled fear among criminals but also restored public confidence in safety, as the state garners national acclaim for its law enforcement success.
