A tanker carrying liquid nitrogen developed a leak following a collision with a truck on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, causing widespread concern, police reported on Friday. The incident occurred within the Behat (Bihari Garh) police station's jurisdiction when a truck collided with the tanker's rear, resulting in the leakage.
Station House Officer Satendra Kumar noted that the collision breached the tanker's integrity, injuring the truck's driver. Emergency response teams, including fire services from Saharanpur and Dehradun and a specialized gas company rescue team, quickly arrived on site.
Authorities cordoned off the affected area, controlled the nitrogen leak, and oversaw the transfer to another tanker. Traffic was temporarily rerouted, and the NHAI filed a complaint against the truck driver. As investigations continue, the injured driver is receiving medical care.
