The Ministry of Rural Development has revealed the national calendar for SARAS Aajeevika Melas for the fiscal year 2026-27, with a focus on promoting rural livelihoods and women entrepreneurship. The ministry outlined plans for three significant SARAS events in the National Capital Region during this period.

The SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2026 is set to take place at Leisure Valley Park in Gurugram from October 22 to November 6, while the SARAS Food Festival 2026 will run from November 21 to December 8 at Sunder Nursery in New Delhi. The following year, the SARAS Aajeevika Mela 2027 will be held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi from February 1 to February 28.

Organized under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), these flagship events serve as a conduit for self-help groups and artisans nationwide, promoting direct engagement between rural women entrepreneurs and urban consumers, elevating product visibility and income opportunities.

Through this initiative, the ministry aims to fortify the rural economy by offering direct market access and fostering 'Vocal for Local' and Atmanirbhar Bharat. The Melas will also promote cultural diversity with traditional art forms, foods, and performances, fostering inclusive growth and the preservation of indigenous crafts. This year's calendar underscores the government's ongoing dedication to broaden market-led livelihood opportunities and empower women-led enterprises. (ANI)
