Delhi Metro has embarked on a significant expansion journey with the appointment of Sanjay Jamuar as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of its new entity, Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL). The announcement, made by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on platform X, underscores the corporation's ambitions to extend its operations outside of Delhi and into international territories.
DMIL has been established with a focused mandate to provide advisory services and execute metro projects beyond their traditional territory. Its aim is to enhance transit systems through long-term strategic planning and consultancy services, drawing from DMRC's extensive expertise in metro construction and operations.
Sanjay Jamuar brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served in various capacities in the Indian Railways, DMRC, and internationally. His appointment is seen as a homecoming, marking a full-circle moment since he started his career at DMRC as its first Operations and Maintenance employee in 1998.
As DMRC continues to establish itself as a leader in metro rail consultancy, its involvement in major projects like the Dhaka Metro in Bangladesh and metro systems in Chennai, Mumbai, and Patna, signifies its expanding influence. With Jamuar at the helm of DMIL, the corporation is poised to further bolster its global presence.
