The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a strategic plan to bolster public transport across Delhi-NCR with multiple initiatives, including 24 additional train trips every Monday, starting May 18. The move is expected to deter private vehicle use by offering enhanced urban mobility options.
Among the main measures, DMRC plans to improve security, expand ticketing facilities, and strengthen last-mile connectivity with alternatives such as e-autos, e-rickshaws, and bike taxis. The Saarthi App also facilitates integrated journey planning, making commuting more streamlined for Delhiites.
Committed to sustainability, the DMRC is keen on leveraging the metro network's connectivity with major commercial, educational, and government hubs. Furthermore, digital ticketing systems, including QR codes and National Common Mobility Cards, aim to simplify and encourage the shift towards more sustainable, public-centric transportation solutions.
