The Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express has garnered a robust response within just two days of commencing operations, with nearly 9,000 passengers onboard, officials reported.
Priced at Rs 730 excluding catering charges, the service is emerging as an affordable travel alternative compared to airfares ranging between Rs 4,000 and Rs 6,000. On its inaugural operation, 3,925 passengers utilized the train, with numbers surpassing 5,000 on the second day, suggesting growing commuter favor towards rail connectivity on this crucial route.
The train distinguishes itself by covering the Jammu-Srinagar distance in about four hours and 45 minutes. Enhanced with modern amenities such as GPS-based passenger information systems and upgraded interiors, it has become the preferred choice for commuters, locals, and tourists alike. In an additional perk, IRCTC has introduced a vegetarian Kashmiri menu to enhance the passenger experience. Officials are optimistic about reaching full occupancy owing to the rising demand for this mode of travel.
