India is advancing its trade agreements with Oman and Chile, with significant developments expected soon. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced that the Oman Free Trade Agreement could be operational by June 1, 2026. He shared these remarks during the CII Annual Business Summit 2026, expressing confidence in the ongoing discussions with the Gulf nation.
In contrast, talks with Chile are emphasizing the negotiation of rights over critical minerals and mining concessions. Beyond these talks, Minister Goyal addressed the broader economic picture, noting the disruptions in global trade due to the conflict in West Asia. He highlighted India's strategic resilience and capability to overcome international challenges, rallying the nation's unity and resourcefulness as underpinned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
