Rumored Fuel Shortage Spurs Panic Buying Across Chhattisgarh
Fuel stations across Chhattisgarh, including Raipur, witnessed long queues due to panic buying following rumors of a fuel shortage. Despite pump operators claiming normal supply, increased consumer demand led to temporary closures. Fuel rationing was imposed in some areas to ensure equitable distribution.
In Raipur and several other cities of Chhattisgarh, extensive queues formed at fuel stations on Thursday after rumors spread about a potential petrol and diesel shortage. Despite the frenzy, pump operators assured that supply levels were stable and that the rush was primarily due to consumer panic.
Some stations in Raipur saw closures after depleting existing stocks, while others managed heavy crowds. Piyush Patel, a local consumer, noted extended wait times at the pumps, attributing these to anxiety over possible fuel unavailability. Bablu Yadav, another resident, echoed concerns and reported waiting over an hour for fuel in Kushalpur.
Efforts are underway to normalize the situation, with some stations limiting purchase quantities to ensure equitable distribution. Dealers remain in contact with depots, expediting supply processes. The situation, though critical, is expected to stabilize shortly as pump operators arrange for additional fuel shipments.
