NDMC Initiates Green Transport Push with EV Rebate and Shuttle Services

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is set to offer a 50% rebate on parking fees for electric vehicles in a bid to promote green transport. Announced on Thursday at a meeting led by NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal, the move supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for sustainable development.

In addition to the parking rebate, NDMC will launch shuttle bus services for employees from multiple residential areas starting May 15. The initiative, which includes engagement with local transportation services, aims to improve last-mile connectivity and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

The council also plans to enhance energy conservation measures across its offices and institutions and advocate for the use of digital solutions to minimize travel. Furthermore, discussions are underway with associations to encourage practices like carpooling and the optimal use of non-petroleum vehicles.
