UAE Fast-Tracks Strategic Pipeline to Boost Oil Exports

The United Arab Emirates is expediting its West-East Pipeline project in a bid to significantly boost its oil export capabilities. This strategic infrastructure initiative, spearheaded by ADNOC, aims to double oil export capacity through Fujairah by 2027, bypassing the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The decision to accelerate was made at a recent ADNOC executive board meeting chaired by Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as reported by Gulf News.

The pipeline, currently under construction, is set to become operational in four years, marking a pivotal development in the UAE's energy strategy. Sheikh Khaled highlighted ADNOC's resilient approach in maintaining uninterrupted energy supply and urged for the swift advancement of the project to align with global energy demand. As the UAE targets enhanced supply security for global customers, the pipeline emerges as a key component in safeguarding oil exports from the Arabian Gulf coast via Fujairah.

The meeting also spotlighted the progress of the TA'ZIZ Phase 1 chemicals ecosystem in Al Ruwais Industrial City. Projects under this ecosystem focus on creating new domestic value chains and expect to produce 4.7 million tonnes of industrial chemicals annually by 2028. Additionally, Sheikh Khaled emphasized the In-Country Value (ICV) program, advocating for prioritizing local products within ADNOC's operations to spur industrial diversification in the UAE.
