Streamlined Tax Returns: ITR-1 and ITR-4 Now Online
The Income Tax department has enabled online filing for ITR-1 and ITR-4 for the 2026-27 assessment year. These forms cater to small and medium taxpayers, simplifying income reporting. The deadline for ITR-1 is July 31, while ITR-4 is due by August 31.
The Income Tax department has taken a significant step towards modernizing and streamlining the tax return process by enabling online filing for ITR-1 and ITR-4 for the assessment year 2026-27.
These forms specifically cater to small and medium taxpayers. Simplified filing processes, such as the Sahaj and Sugam forms, are aimed at individuals and businesses with annual income up to Rs 50 lakh, covering various income sources including salary and business income.
The deadlines set by the department are July 31 for the ITR-1 and August 31 for the ITR-4, allowing taxpayers ample time to comply with tax regulations using the e-Filing portal.
