IndiGo Flight Evacuates Passengers Due to Smoke at Bengaluru Airport
Two passengers sustained minor injuries during the evacuation of over 230 people from an IndiGo aircraft following smoke detection in the cabin and cockpit at Bengaluru airport. The incident is under investigation by DGCA, and the aircraft remains grounded for inspection.
At Bengaluru airport, a dramatic evacuation unfolded when smoke filled the cabin and cockpit of an IndiGo flight preparing to depart for Chennai. Over 230 passengers were on board when the incident occurred on 26 May 2026.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that two individuals suffered minor injuries during the emergency evacuation using all escape slides. IndiGo has assured that all passengers and crew are safe and arrangements have been made for an alternate flight. The aircraft currently remains grounded while investigations proceed.
