The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has firmly dismissed claims circulating about a possible breach in its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The board clarified that the mentioned portal, referenced in social media allegations, is a testing site unlinked to the main evaluation platform, and not vulnerable as suggested.
The claims originated from a post by a user identifying as 'Nisarga,' who purportedly accessed the CBSE's system on February 26, 2026, and exposed security weaknesses. CBSE has clarified that this system for marking evaluations is distinct with robust safety measures, emphasizing that no real evaluation data was compromised or stored on the testing portal.
Nisarga described himself as a cybersecurity enthusiast and claimed his ability to manipulate various aspects of the portal, including changing examiner details and potentially altering student marks, due to vulnerabilities. CBSE has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparency and security in its official evaluation processes.
Adding to the confusion, a typo in CBSE's original statement misdirected users to the claim maker's blog, which has since been corrected. The corrected URL now leads to further inquiries on system integrity.
