Online ITR-2 Filing Opens for 2026-27 in India
The Income Tax Department has opened online filing for ITR-2 for the 2026-27 assessment year. This follows previous openings for ITR-1 and ITR-4. Individuals and HUFs with capital gains, but no business income, can now file. The deadline for ITR-1 and ITR-2 is July 31.
The Income Tax Department has activated the online filing system for ITR-2 for the 2026-27 fiscal year on its e-filing platform. This move supports individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUFs) who primarily earn from capital gains and have no business income.
The department previously enabled online submissions for ITR-1 and ITR-4 on May 15, both designed for small and medium taxpayers. These forms were officially released on March 30, reflecting income from the 2025-26 year. Filers are encouraged to submit by July 31 for ITR-1 and ITR-2, while the cutoff for non-audit submissions under ITR-4 is set for August 31.
