The Delhi Government intends to introduce two hydrogen-powered buses into its public transportation system, aiming for sustainable and eco-friendly urban development. Transport Minister Pankaj Singh highlighted that this move is part of the government's broader strategy for clean energy.
The project involves the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) collaborating with NTPC Limited, which will furnish the buses through its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative. Initially, the hydrogen buses will be deployed under a Memorandum of Understanding and operated on a Gross Cost Contract model, where DTC handles operational aspects. NTPC will cover any additional costs exceeding the established rate, underlining their commitment to sustainable transport systems.
Pankaj Singh emphasized the importance of integrating hydrogen fuel technology into the city's transit infrastructure, marking a significant step towards eco-friendly public transportation. The minister noted that this collaboration with NTPC could pave the way for introducing more advanced zero-emission technologies, crucial for a cleaner, greener future in the capital.
