Tesla, the prominent American electric vehicle manufacturer, has launched the 2026 Model Y Premium rear-wheel drive in India. Priced at Rs 50.89 lakh, it is the most affordable variant offered by the company in the Indian market so far.
This latest addition follows the introduction of another model last month, the three-row six-seater SUV Model YL, available at Rs 61.99 lakh. Since Tesla's entry into India last year, with the Model Y at Rs 59.89 lakh, it has been actively broadening its product lineup.
According to Tesla Senior Director Isabel Fan, the company is committed to investing in India's EV infrastructure by expanding retail presence, enhancing after-sales services, and boosting its charging network. The Model Y Premium's improved hardware and design offer enhanced performance and a more sophisticated interior.
With the ability to cover 500 km on a single charge (WLTP) and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, this new variant is set to be delivered starting July 2026. Tesla continues to extend its charging facilities, aiming for significant expansion in urban areas like Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore.
The company has already established Tesla Experience Centers in key cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, along with a dedicated Tesla Centre on Sohna Road, Gurugram, to cater to its growing customer base.
