Tesla Unveils 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive in India

In a strategic move to capture India's burgeoning electric vehicle market, Tesla has introduced the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive. This launch is part of Tesla's broader plan to expand its portfolio in response to rising competition and growing consumer interest in premium electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.

The new Model Y variant boasts significant upgrades, including an all-black interior, a larger 16-inch touchscreen, and a new Zen Grey interior option. Offering substantial storage of 2,138 liters, this electric marvel accommodates up to five passengers and covers a driving range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge as per WLTP standards.

Priced competitively at Rs 50.89 lakh, the Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive will start reaching Indian buyers by July 2026. Tesla aims to make premium EV ownership more accessible through various financing schemes, with EMIs starting at Rs 39,990 and a down payment set at Rs 6 lakh. Alongside, Tesla continues to highlight the economic benefits of EVs, emphasizing savings of up to Rs 20,000 monthly for customers leveraging the Model Y Premium. This release follows last month's launch of the Model Y L in India, further underscoring Tesla's commitment to expanding its footprint in India's electric mobility sector.

Isabel Fan, Tesla's Senior Director, elaborated on the company's mission to foster a world of sustainable abundance by making EV technology and infrastructure increasingly accessible. Fan confirmed Tesla's plans to continue investing in India by expanding retail networks, enhancing after-sales services, and enriching charging infrastructure, ultimately delivering a comprehensive EV experience for Indian consumers.
