Delhi Airport has introduced 'SKYCAST', an advanced weather intelligence system aimed at improving aviation safety by providing real-time environmental alerts. This pioneering facility, a collaboration between the Ministry of Science & Technology and Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), is the first of its kind in India.

The system features comprehensive real-time monitoring of critical atmospheric parameters, allowing for timely detection of aviation hazards such as fog, turbulence, and wind shear. The facility combines several cutting-edge technologies including Radar Wind Profiler, Microwave Profiling Radiometer, and Sonic Detection and Ranging systems to deliver detailed atmospheric and wind data.

The SKYCAST system supports continuous updates every five minutes, offering crucial forecasts and operational nowcasts. It aligns with similar systems at world-renowned airports and launch facilities, reinforcing Delhi Airport's commitment to safety as it manages over 1,300 daily flight movements.
