Parents Rally Against Private School Fee Hike in Delhi

In a move to address mounting concerns over escalating private school fees, a group of parents met with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday. The parents, representing the Delhi Parents' Association, approached the Delhi Secretariat seeking government intervention on the issue.

The chief minister assured the group that discussions would be initiated, involving her, the education minister, and education department officials, to address the parents' grievances. The meeting followed an earlier, unsuccessful attempt to meet the chief minister at her residence due to security constraints.

Expressing dissatisfaction with some private schools' non-compliance with education guidelines, the parents, under the United Parents' Voice (UPV), demanded the government halt any fee-related ordinances until comprehensive consultations occur. They stressed the inclusion of citizens and parents in decisions affecting school education.
