Brazil's Victory in Sustainable Aviation Fuel Multicropping
Brazil celebrates a UN decision that recognizes multicropping's environmental benefits for producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel. This recognition is seen as a global energy transition victory, positioning Brazil as a leader. The decision contrasts with the U.S. stance, which sees it as potentially unfair to its producers.

Brazil hailed a UN decision recognizing the environmental benefits of multicropping in producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as a win for the country. This method, common in Brazil, allows farmers to grow multiple crops on the same land, contributing to sustainable practices.
Brazil's Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, emphasized that this recognition by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) underscores Brazil's leadership in the global energy transition, advocating for sustainable and inclusive solutions.
The United States, however, expressed concerns over the decision. The U.S. State Department suggested it could penalize American producers by assigning multicropping a lower carbon score. This marks a significant divergence in international energy strategies.
