Jharkhand Court Criticizes Delay in Teacher Appointments

The Jharkhand High Court on Monday voiced its frustration regarding the slow pace of teacher appointments conducted by the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
During a hearing of a public interest litigation filed by economist and social activist Jean Dreze, a bench consisting of Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Rajesh Shankar pointed out the commission's non-compliance with court directives.
The bench instructed the JSSC to inform the court about the timeline for distributing appointment letters to selected candidates, highlighting that of 6,000 candidates for Maths and Science teaching positions, only 2,734 were shortlisted. The court will review the matter again on July 2.
