A group of students from across Kerala, excited and curious, had the unique opportunity to interact with astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla via video conferencing. The event took place at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, offering students a glimpse into the life of an astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
Sanghavi, a tenth-grade student, couldn't contain her joy as she witnessed Shukla explain and demonstrate the effects of zero gravity. Her excitement mirrored that of nearly 200 other students who participated in the event. The students were selected based on their outstanding performance in the Upper Secondary Scholarship exams and various science clubs.
The interaction, devoid of media presence owing to confidentiality protocols enforced by the Union Government, allowed students to ask questions about space travel and scientific experiments. Shukla, who recently became the first Indian in decades to reach the ISS, inspired the young minds with tales from his journey and motivated them to excel in scientific pursuits.
