In a groundbreaking move to preserve cultural heritage, government school teachers in Himachal Pradesh have been instructed to converse with students in local dialects for 30 minutes during the bag-free day observed monthly. This is part of an initiative announced on Tuesday under the New Education Policy (NEP-2020).
The thrust behind this policy is to champion linguistic diversity and fortify cultural connections between educators and their students, especially those who communicate in local dialects at home. Secretary (Education) Rakesh Kanwar has communicated these changes, emphasizing their potential impact on the educational environment.
All deputy directors of elementary and secondary education have been tasked with ensuring that heads of institutions conform to these directives, paving the way for a more inclusive and understanding classroom atmosphere throughout Himachal Pradesh.
