Centenary Festivities: Presidential Gold at IIT-ISM Dhanbad
President Droupadi Murmu attended the 45th convocation of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, celebrating its centenary. She awarded medals to top graduates and unveiled a commemorative postal stamp. The event highlighted the institute's legacy in India's mining education since its founding in 1926, inspired by the Royal School of Mines, London.

President Droupadi Murmu graced the 45th convocation of IIT (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, a prestigious event aligned with the institute's 100-year celebrations. As part of the ceremony, Murmu conferred the President's Gold Medal to Priyanshu Sharma, the leading BTech graduate in computer science and engineering.
The President also unveiled a special postal stamp alongside a commemorative cover, marking the institute's landmark anniversary. A total of 1,880 students received degrees, including 1,055 undergraduates and 711 postgraduates, symbolizing their entry into the illustrious alumni network.
With 37 gold medals, 35 silver, and 21 additional awards distributed, the convocation underscored the institution's longstanding commitment to excellence in science and technology education. Dignitaries like Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Governor Santosh Gangwar were also in attendance.
