Rejected Applications: WBSSC Upholds Supreme Court's Decision Against Tainted Teachers
The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has rejected the job applications of 100 'tainted' teachers, according to officials. These teachers were previously marked by the Supreme Court for improper job acquisition and had their appointments invalidated. The rejected candidates were part of those terminated earlier in 2023.

The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) has dismissed applications from 100 teachers previously labeled as 'tainted' for the manner of their hiring in state-run schools, an official disclosed on Wednesday.
These applicants are among 25,753 educators and non-teaching staff whose appointments were annulled on April 3 by the Supreme Court, declaring their 2016 selection process 'vitiated.' A total of 1,803 teachers were identified with such hiring discrepancies, including the noted 100.
These teachers had applied for the State Level Selection Test (SLST) 2025 via the WBSSC portal but were prevented from downloading their admit cards, adhering to the Supreme Court's mandate. This year's SLST, aiming to fill 35,726 assistant teacher vacancies, will occur on September 7 and 14, with 5.8 lakh provisional admit cards distributed.
