An engineering student at Jaypee University of Information Technology, Solan, sustained serious injuries after an alleged suicide attempt from a hostel building, police reported on Thursday.
The incident unfolded late Wednesday night when the student jumped from the rooftop. Fellow students, upon witnessing the jump, quickly notified university authorities and law enforcement.
The injured student was initially treated on campus before being transported to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla. Superintendent of Police Solan Tirumalaraju SD Varma has confirmed the incident, noting that an investigation is underway. The campus briefly erupted in tension as students voiced discontent against university officials, who are probing the situation's underlying causes.
