A maritime institute in Pune district faces serious allegations following the tragic death of a marine engineering student. The principal, alongside three other officials, has been charged with negligence.
The incident occurred earlier this month when 20-year-old Vishal Varma attempted to perform pull-ups on a basketball ring, which subsequently collapsed. He suffered a fatal head injury as a result of the collapse.
Police investigations discovered that the basketball court's pole was old and rusted due to poor maintenance. Legal action has been initiated under Section 106 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for death caused by negligence.
