Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange has declared an indefinite hunger strike from May 30, pressing for the distribution of Kunbi caste certificates to Marathas in Marathwada. Speaking in Jalna district, Jarange criticized the Maratha quota sub-committee for its inaction and demanded its dissolution.

He accused the Maharashtra government of halting Kunbi certificate issuance, essential for Marathas' eligibility for reservations, and claimed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's involvement. Jarange urged immediate implementation of historical gazettes and validation of existing certificates, setting a May 29 deadline for government action.

Jarange also addressed new policies affecting reserved category candidates and financial aid bottlenecks. He emphasized the need for Marathas' recognition as Kunbis to access government jobs and education quotas, asserting that community welfare schemes must not be stalled.
