In a tragic turn of events, a 19-year-old NEET aspirant from Odisha's Bhadrak district has been found dead, police disclosed on Thursday. The deceased, Jyoti Prakash Barik, was discovered hanging at his home, prompting his family to claim he took his life fearing failure in the recently attempted NEET exam.
The incident transpired in Nunda village under Tihidi block, with police confirming that Jyoti was found at their rented house in Bhadrak town police station area. Despite efforts to save him, doctors at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital pronounced him dead upon arrival.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated a thorough investigation. Jyoti's family revealed that he was under immense mental stress, especially after failing the NEET last year. His father, who runs a tea stall, had invested Rs 3 lakh for his coaching, hoping for his son's success this time around.
