Protests Erupt Over NEET Exam Leak in India
In New Delhi, student members of India's Congress party protested the cancellation of the NEET exam due to a question leak. The exam, taken by 2.3 million students, was annulled by the National Testing Agency. This incident echoes a similar leak in 2024. Protesters demand accountability from officials.
In a significant development, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in India was scrapped due to a question leak, prompting widespread protests in New Delhi.
Authorities announced the cancellation of the test, taken by approximately 2.3 million aspirants, after discrepancies were uncovered. This marked a repeat of a similar leak controversy that occurred in 2024 but had not led to a re-examination at that time.
Protesters, primarily from the National Students' Union of India, chanted slogans and tried to breach police barricades. Their demands include strict action against those responsible for the leak and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing mistrust in the government's handling of the matter.
