The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has requested a Delhi court to grant seven days of police custody for four individuals arrested in connection with the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. The court, presided over by Special Judge Ajay Gupta, was informed that the exam breach occurred as the question papers were circulated online.
According to the CBI, the arrests were made in Jaipur on May 13, following a complaint by the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding the May 3 exam. It was alleged that the question papers were shared before the exam via WhatsApp and Telegram, prompting an investigation by Rajasthan's Special Operations Group, which confirmed the leak's authenticity.
The suspects, including Yash Yadav and Mangilal Khatik, allegedly distributed the leaked papers for a significant sum. Seized evidence includes incriminating chats and digital data. The agency seeks custody to further investigate and trace more suspects, primarily the source of this leak and any potential involvement of NTA officials.
