Urban Planning Education Takes Root in Meghalaya

The All India Council for Technical Education has sanctioned a new degree course in urban planning at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning in Tura, Meghalaya. Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma announced that this course is set to begin in the 2026-27 academic year with a capacity of 30 students.

This significant development is affiliated with Captain Williamson Sangma State University. It marks an essential step for the state, enabling students from Meghalaya to access professional education in urban and regional planning without leaving the state. Sangma highlighted the course as a crucial stride toward nurturing a well-equipped workforce.

The program aims to enhance Meghalaya's capabilities for meticulous urban growth and infrastructural advancement. Sangma believes that this initiative will have long-term benefits for the state's sustainable and planned development drive.
