In a significant development in the NEET-UG paper leak case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar, founder of the Renukai Career Centre. This arrest comes after incriminating evidence was found on Motegaonkar's mobile device during agency searches.
The investigation has revealed that Motegaonkar was part of a well-orchestrated syndicate responsible for leaking NEET-UG questions. He allegedly received the paper and answers days ahead of the examination held on May 3. The arrest followed a series of raids, which unearthed handwritten notes meant to aid students.
The scandal has led to the cancellation of the exam for nearly 23 lakh aspirants across 551 cities, both in India and abroad. The National Testing Agency (NTA) took action after receiving reports of malpractice shortly after the exam's conclusion, escalating the information to central agencies for further investigation.
