The Ministry of Education on Thursday brought together 24 Indian deep-tech start-ups and over 90 leading domestic and global investors at the Bharat Innovates Investor Showcase in Bengaluru ahead of the flagship Bharat Innovates 2026 event in France.
The day-long event, held on Tuesday in association with the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA), saw participation from investors managing cumulative global assets worth over USD 85 billion, including representatives from Peak XV Partners, Accel, Bessemer Venture Partners, Bertelsmann India Investments, Avaana Capital, Blume Ventures and Kalaari Capital, the ministry said in a statement.
Addressing the gathering, Department of Higher Education Joint Secretary Saumya Gupta said Bharat Innovates is a flagship initiative announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 17 during the inauguration of the India-France Year of Innovation in the presence of the French president.
She noted that the Bengaluru Showcase reflects the ministry's commitment to creating structured platforms where India's deep-tech founders can engage directly with patient, long-term capital and partners capable of supporting their global scale-up journey.
Prashanth Prakash, partner, Accel; Rajan Anandan, managing director, Peak XV; and Gaurav Deepak, co-founder and CEO, Avendus; all members of the Core Advisory Committee of Bharat Innovates 2026, underscored the strategic intent of the initiative to position India's research-led deep-tech ventures at the forefront of global capital flows and to build durable bridges with the international investor and corporate ecosystem, the statement said.
The 24 participating start-ups represented the breadth of India's deep-tech innovation, spanning frontier areas including space and launch systems, electric aviation and aerospace, defence and propulsion, semiconductors and 5G/6G, quantum computing, neuro-technology, biotechnology and cell therapy, regenerative medicine, women's health, agri-biotech and precision agriculture, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, water and marine robotics, and digital health.
Each founder delivered a 15-minute presentation comprising a 10-minute pitch and a five-minute interaction with investors.
The Bengaluru Showcase is one of a series of curated engagements being organised by the Ministry of Education in the run-up to Bharat Innovates 2026 to be held in Nice, France from June 14-16 as part of the India-France Year of Innovation.
The flagship event will showcase approximately 120 R&D-backed Indian deep-tech ventures to global industry leaders, investors, policymakers and technology partners.
Bharat Innovates 2026 focuses on 13 frontier technology sectors including advanced computing, semiconductors, next-generation communications, advanced materials and critical minerals, biotechnology, space, defence, and manufacturing and industry 4.0.
The initiative aims to strengthen the bridge between India's innovators, institutions, investors and industry, and to open pathways for Indian deep-tech ventures into France, Europe and global markets, the statement added.
