Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Friday announced that one lakh teachers will be appointed over the next five years.

The decision was taken during a high-level departmental review meeting here with an aim to ensure quality education for all students.

''In the next five years, one lakh teachers will be appointed at a rate of at least 20,000 each year,'' Choudhary wrote in his X post.

He said advertisements related to appointments will be issued in July each year.

The education department has been directed to make a policy to ensure that female teachers are transferred to a panchayat adjacent to their homes, and male teachers to the block adjacent to their home block, Choudhary said.

The CM announced that the supply of uniforms to school students will be done through JEEViKA, which will ensure timely supplies as well as boost women's self-reliance.

Notably, the government's decision has come amid recurring protests by teaching job aspirants in the state over delay in notification of BPSC TRE-4 exams.
