The annual fair at the famous shrine of Syed Salar Sahu Ghazi in Satrikh town, Barabanki, will not proceed this year. Authorities have decided to cancel the event, highlighting potential law and order issues as the reason, with police confirming the announcement on Friday.

Satrikh police station's Station House Officer submitted a report urging the district administration to call off the fair, following safety concerns. Earlier objections were raised by several Hindu groups, echoing sentiments directed towards other shrines in Sambhal and Bahraich. Residents also filed complaints regarding encroachments near the shrine.

A memorandum filed by lawyers and a Hindu outfit claimed Syed Salar Sahu Ghazi's controversial history, including his role in historical invasions, sparking further protests. The district administration, aligning with police recommendations, denied the fair committee's request to hold the event on May 14 and 15, leading to the cessation of all preparations.
