The Everest climbing season began earlier than anticipated this year as a team of expert climbers reached the world's highest summit. The group, part of 8K Expeditions, successfully established the route under stable weather conditions.
According to Himal Gautam from Nepal's Department of Tourism, this early achievement not only marks the official start of the season but also improves safety measures and summit flexibility, potentially reducing congestion.
The season generally sees climbers making their attempts in May. This year, permissions have been granted to about 450 climbers, generating Rs 653.8 million in royalties for Nepal. Plans to limit expeditions to those who have prior high-altitude experience are under consideration.
