The North American Punjabi Association has called upon the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Panthic leadership to ensure the protection of sacred 'saroops' of the Guru Granth Sahib housed in a Tehran gurdwara, amidst the escalating conflict in the region.
Satnam Singh Chahal, the association's executive director, urgently encouraged the SGPC to arrange a chartered flight and a team of five dedicated Sikhs to safely retrieve the physical copies of Guru Granth Sahib from the war-impacted area and bring them back to India with the utmost respect.
SGPC general secretary Gurcharan Singh Grewal stated that they have already requested governmental intervention to safeguard the gurdwaras and sacred texts in light of the volatile regional situation.
