On Saturday, yoga enthusiasts across China rolled out their mats to celebrate International Day of Yoga, a testament to the rising popularity of the ancient Indian wellness art form. Events in major cities highlighted yoga's expanding appeal, drawing thousands, including diplomats and local practitioners.
In Beijing, Indian Ambassador Pradeep Kumar Rawat joined a large gathering at the old Indian Embassy complex, which hosted hundreds of Chinese enthusiasts under the guidance of Indian yoga teachers. Participation was so high that event registrations had to be capped after reaching over 1,500.
The rising interest comes against a backdrop of diplomatic efforts to repair India-China relations after recent tensions. Yoga events were held in various cities, demonstrating the practice's strength in uniting cultures and promoting health and harmony.
