In a display of unity and holistic health, Tamil Nadu marked International Yoga Day with fervor on Saturday. The celebration, led by Governor R N Ravi in Madurai, captivated attention as thousands, including 10,000 students from Velammal Group of Institutions, gathered for a massive yoga session.

Union Minister L Murugan joined the event at the National Institute of Siddha, Chennai, while former Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan participated in Gudiyatham alongside BJP functionary and actress Namitha. The event underscored yoga's importance in calming the mind and strengthening the body, as emphasized by BJP state chief Nainar Nagenthiran.

The eleventh International Yoga Day also saw participation from the Armed Forces, with 500 personnel from various divisions practicing yoga at a serene beach near INS Adyar. The event celebrated yoga's global influence, with BJP leaders praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making yoga a worldwide movement.
