Mangaluru celebrated the 11th International Yoga Day with an innovative twist—Jala yoga, or water yoga, was introduced in the coastal city. Held at the Mangaluru City Corporation Swimming Pool, the event saw an amateur swimmer's group performing yoga postures while floating in 16-feet-deep water.
The event organizers emphasized how this practice, which combines traditional yoga, breathing techniques, and meditation in water, enhances physical fitness and mental well-being. Retired Dean S M Shivaprakash added a creative touch by writing a postcard to Prime Minister Modi while swimming, bringing attention to the event.
Participants, including Chandrahass Shetty, experienced enhanced flexibility and ease in maintaining poses due to water's buoyancy. The event aimed to promote healthy lifestyles and showcased India's evolving approach to wellness, adhering to this year's Yoga Day theme: One Earth, One Health.
