'Sitaare Zameen Par', starring Bollywood luminary Aamir Khan, scored an impressive Rs 11.7 crore at the domestic box office on its premiere day, according to the producers' announcement on Saturday.
The film, directed by R S Prasanna and co-produced by Khan along with Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka, hit theatres on Friday. Penned by Divy Nidhi Sharma, it's described as a spiritual successor to the highly praised 'Taare Zameen Par'.
'Sitaare Zameen Par' is centered around themes of inclusivity and empowerment, with Aamir Khan portraying a basketball coach inspiring ten differently-abled individuals. The movie also includes performances from Aroush Datta and others, marking Khan's significant screen return following 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.
