In a tragic development, filmmaker Mahesh Jirawala, who had been missing since the Air India crash in Ahmedabad last week, was confirmed dead after DNA testing of remains found at the scene. Police have reported that Jirawala, aged 34, was on his scooter near the crash site when the catastrophe occurred.
The crash, one of India's most devastating, resulted in the deaths of 270 people, including both passengers on the aircraft and individuals on the ground. The DNA results confirmed Jirawala's tragic demise, convincing his initially skeptical family through additional evidence such as CCTV footage and the recovery of his scooter's remains nearby.
Jirawala, a resident of Naroda and also known by the name Mahesh Kalavadiya, had been on his way home after a meeting. His family, particularly his wife Hetal, struggled to come to terms with the loss. Law enforcement provided further evidence, including location tracking data that placed his mobile phone near the crash site, to verify his identity.
