Joseph Kosinski, the director behind 'F1: The Movie,' has shed light on why actress Simone Ashley's role was significantly reduced. Ashley, famed for her work in 'Bridgerton,' was initially part of the film's much-touted cast. Nonetheless, fans noticed her near absence in the final cut of the movie.
In an interview with People magazine, Kosinski explained this common industry challenge, stating, "It happens on every film, where you have to shoot more than you can use. There were two or three storylines that ultimately didn't make it into the final cut." Despite this, he praised Ashley's skills, calling her an "incredible talent" and expressing a desire to collaborate with her in the future.
Ashley makes only a brief appearance without any speaking lines. The movie, featuring Brad Pitt as retired Formula One driver Sonny Hayes, also stars Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia. Pitt and Damson Idris, who performs as young racer Joshua Pearce, carried out much of their driving for the film, aided by extensive training under F1 champion Lewis Hamilton's approval.
