The BJD and the Odisha Congress have expressed strong disapproval over the BJP and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for organizing an 'untimely' Rath Yatra event in the national capital. The event, which transpired without aligning with the traditional schedule, has sparked a demand for public apologies from the political figures involved.
Joining a large congregation of devotees at Kamla Nagar in Delhi, the celebration deviated from the prescribed observance date by the Jagannath temple in Puri, scheduled for June 27 this year. State Congress President Bhakta Charan Das vehemently insisted that the Delhi CM apologize to the people of Odisha for the perceived transgression.
Allegations of disrespect towards Lord Jagannath's devotees fueled further criticism from BJD's Goutam Buddha Das, who questioned the sincerity of BJP's devotion. Meanwhile, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan assured that any future unsanctioned events would meet immediate government intervention and potential legal action.
