On Wednesday, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla marked his place in history as the second Indian to journey into space, following in the pioneering footsteps of Rakesh Sharma in 1984. Shukla's mission also made him the first Indian to set foot in the International Space Station.
This landmark event was further highlighted by Shukla's music playlist, which embraced his cultural roots with the song 'Yun Hi Chala Chal Raahi' from the iconic Bollywood film 'Swades'. He shared this personal touch ahead of SpaceX's Falcon-9 rocket launch, part of a commercial mission organized by Axiom Space.
The launch unfolded from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 12.01 PM IST. Alongside Shukla's ode to life, the playlist included contributions from his multinational crew: American Commander Peggy Whitson, who selected 'Thunder' by Imagine Dragons, Polish crew member Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski, who chose 'Supermonce', and Hungarian member Tibor Kapu, who picked 'Bvhely'.
