In a focused approach to addressing regional economic concerns, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla engaged with Moradabad's brass handicraft exporters on Wednesday. The industry stakeholders aired grievances about current duty drawback rates and sought relief from the imposed Goods and Services Tax (GST) that they claim has hindered growth.
Moradabad serves as India's paramount hub for brass handicrafts, playing a vital role in bolstering the nation's foreign exchange earnings. In light of their economic significance, exporters have persistently lobbied for government intervention to facilitate smoother operational terrain and increased competitiveness.
In addition to addressing economic issues, Birla inaugurated Samvidhan Park to commemorate the Emergency's 50th anniversary. The park, designed by the Moradabad Municipal Corporation, aims to educate the public, especially children, on India's vast cultural heritage and constitutional history.
