Actor Rob McElhenney has officially filed in Los Angeles to change his name to 'Rob Mac' in response to pronunciation difficulties faced by many. Known for his role in 'Welcome to Wrexham,' McElhenney explained his decision during an interview with Variety, citing global expansion and linguistic challenges.

McElhenney, together with Ryan Reynolds, co-owns the Wrexham AFC soccer club. The duo, who acquired the team in 2020, are also executive producers of the FX series 'Welcome to Wrexham,' which documents the team's journey. Their ventures have highlighted the name pronunciation issue, prompting the change.

In 2023, Ryan Reynolds humorously addressed this challenge by releasing a musical video for McElhenney's birthday. The video featured celebrities, including McElhenney's wife Kaitlin Olson, instructing fans on the correct pronunciation. 'It's McElhenney,' the song insisted, while acknowledging common mispronunciations.
