In Thiruvananthapuram, members of the Malayalam cinema and television industry, under AMMA, Producers Association, and FEFKA, staged a protest at the Central Bureau of Film Certification's regional office. The demonstration was in response to the board's demand to change the film title 'Janaki vs State of Kerala,' citing that 'Janaki' refers to Hindu goddess Sita.
The film, starring Union Minister Suresh Gopi, explores a woman's battle against state injustice. The movie was initially approved with a U/A certificate but faced title change demands upon reaching the CBFC headquarters in Mumbai, threatening the integrity of the dialogues and scenes.
FEFKA President B Unnikrishnan condemned the decision as arbitrary and disturbing, highlighting the need for collaborative resistance against such cultural interference. Leaders like CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam and other industry figures called for unity in preserving artistic expression and diversity.
