Innovative Minds Unite for ZSI's 110-Hour Biodiversity Hackathon

The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) celebrated its 110th Foundation Day with a unique 110-hour hackathon, aimed at generating groundbreaking solutions for biodiversity conservation and climate change. The event brought together students, researchers, and innovators from various disciplines to address crucial environmental issues.
ZSI Director Dhriti Banerjee highlighted the hackathon as a platform for generating diverse ideas. From 105 participating teams, five made it to the Grand Finale after rigorous regional rounds. Ultimately, a team from Solan clinched the first prize, supported by several MoUs and unveiling of an updated fauna checklist.
The hackathon reinforced ZSI's dedication to India's zoological heritage protection, with international collaboration underscored by MoUs with the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School and the IUCN. The event concluded with the 'Animal Taxonomy Summit–2025,' drawing over 500 delegates from around the world.
